Paramahansa Yogananda

"Self-realization is the knowing -- in body, mind, and soul -- that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it come to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God's omnipresence is our omnipresence, that we are just as much a part of Him now as we will ever be.  All we have to do is improve our knowing."
~ Paramahansa Yogananda

SRF Convocation 2020

We are very pleased to announce the first fully online Self-Realization Fellowship World Convocation. It will be held from Sunday, August 9 through Saturday, August 15, 2020. As most of you know, the in-person SRF Convocation, which had been scheduled for July 26 through August 1, had to be canceled this year because of government restrictions on large public gatherings during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, SRF will present a wide range of the 2020 World Convocation events online transforming this international spiritual gathering into an event capable of reaching thousands more worldwide.

All Denver Meditation Group Services Suspended Until Further Notice

Dear Friends, Activities at the Denver Meditation Group have been suspended until further notice. This includes all Meditation Services, Readings Services, Inspirational Services, Sunday School, and Meetings. The following message was received from Self-Realization Fellowship Center Department. With God and Guru's Blessings, Managing Council of the Denver Meditation Group.

Dear Friends,

Greetings and love to all of you. As you know, we have been closely monitoring the evolving situation with COVID-19 (coronavirus), and are aware of the uncertainty felt by so many worldwide. After much prayerful consideration about what the right course of action should be, we are asking that your SRF meditation group cease meeting together in person until further notice.

The decision to cancel our services comes on the heels of local Public Health officials' determination that non-essential gatherings should be limited to no more than 250 people, and that smaller events than this should implement social distancing of six feet per person. We believe that taking this cautionary measure will be a highly practical step to help curb the spread of the illness. With regard to group activities that have been planned for later in the year, we will advise you as to whether these events should be canceled in the weeks to come.

Those of you who regularly participate in group meditations and spiritual fellowship know the value and positive influence of seeking God together. We encourage you to continue participating in group meditations via our online meditation services by visiting https://srfonlinemeditation. org/ . We are also looking into offering online inspirational events soon and encourage you to check our website for updates on this.

We also recommend that you continue to follow universal health guidelines with regards to coronavirus, which can be found on the websites of the Centers for Disease Control at https://www.cdc.gov/ coronavirus/2019-ncov/index. html and the World Health Organization at https://www.who.int/ emergencies/diseases/novel- coronavirus-2019 .

Our Guru expected us to use practical outer means and commonsense methods to prevent illness, but he also urged us to have a positive attitude and faith in God's love and protection. That inner attunement felt in meditation and prayer will allow us to reach into the infinite reservoir of God's healing power to help ourselves and all those who are in need.

Let us keep in mind these words of our Gurudeva: "Whatever it is that you fear, take your mind away from it and leave it to God. Have faith in Him...Every night, before you sleep, affirm: 'The Heavenly Father is with me; I am protected.' Mentally surround yourself with Spirit and His cosmic energy."

May God and the Great Ones deeply bless and watch over you and your loved ones.

In divine friendship,

Center Department

SRF Yoga Meditation in Denver, Colorado

Welcome to the Denver Meditation Group of Self-Realization Fellowship. We are composed of devoted members and friends of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF), a worldwide religious organization with international headquarters in Los Angeles, California. Self-Realization Fellowship was founded in 1920 by Paramahansa Yogananda for the purpose of disseminating Kriya Yoga, a definite scientific technique for attaining direct personal experience of God. Meditation is a part of every SRF service.

Through its worldwide service and teachings, Self-Realization Fellowship seeks to awaken greater understanding of the harmony underlying all religions, and a fuller expression in this world of the love that unites all people when they realize their oneness in God.

Weekly SRF lessons are available to those who would like to study the SRF teachings. These are sent from SRF international headquarters in Los Angeles, California. The lessons contain techniques for recharging the body, concentration and meditation, and the higher technique of Kriya Yoga, as well as guidance on how to live a balanced material and spiritual life.

Denver Meditation Group Chapel

Pictured below is Paramahansa Yogananda, or Swami Yogananda as he was known at the time in Denver, Colorado. The picture was taken August 23, 1931 in front of the new (at the time) Denver SRF Temple located at 939 Grant Street, just three blocks south of the Capitol building.  Denver Meditation Group services were held every Thursday evening and Sunday afternoons at 3:30 PM. Swami Yogananda gave four free public lectures at the Albany Hotel. The Albany Hotel was built in 1885 and was located on the NE corner of 17th and Stout Streets in the Central business district. There was a "special musical program" preceding each lecture. Swami Yogananda also gave numerous public lectures in Denver during 1924.
